Cocoon | Kapok Duvet
We think it is important that children are given the best conditions to achieve a comfortable and uninterrupted night's sleep. A kapok junior duvet is a cool, breathable and temperature-regulating all-year-round duvet that can help create the right environment for the child. Our own story with Kapok started back when our youngest son, Phillip, was little. Like many other children, Phillip was a hot child and he often woke up several times during the night hot and humid. We tried all the traditional sleeping products, such as down, feathers and foam, but only a little helped.
In our search for alternative materials, we came across the natural fibre kapok, which proved to be fantastic for regulating heat and moisture. It is through our development of these kapok products that we found the solution for our son. The Kapok duvet gave our son the sleep we had been looking for for so long. Finally, he could sleep through a whole night without waking up drenched in sweat and having to look for a new dry spot on the duvet. It is this reassurance that we now try to pass on to other parents who experience the same situation with their children as we did.
Our kapok junior duvet is filled with 100% untreated and organic kapok and covered with a spring of certified organic cotton. No chemicals or synthetic materials are used during either the cultivation or the production of our kapok quilt. What makes our Cocoon kapok junior duvet special:

Why choose a Kapok quilt?
Most people can nod in recognition of the experience of a feather or down duvet getting warm during the night. You get so hot that you have to lighten the duvet a bit during the night to cool down a bit. This is because feathers and down are both incredibly good at insulating. The good insulating ability gives a nice feeling during the cold months when we want to keep the heat as much as possible. It's nice, right up until you've warmed the duvet and mattress up to body temperature. After this, the body needs to get rid of the excess heat and moisture from the body. Unfortunately, this is where feathers and down often fall short.
The lightness of the kapok fibre means that it regulates the heat around the body and transports the excess moisture and heat away from the body so that the child gets a nice, regulated and dry night's sleep. This is especially important for children, as they may find it difficult to regulate their body temperature. This can lead to them getting too hot during the night and starting to sweat. Therefore, it is incredibly important that the junior duvet is good enough to help the child regulate heat and humidity. And this is where the kapok fibre makes a difference.
Kapok is a natural fibre that grows on the kapok tree Cebia entrada in the tropical rainforests of South and Central America, India and in the western part of Africa. You can partially compare kapok with cotton, but kapok differs by being much airier than cotton. The kapok fibre contains 80% air and is thus 8 times lighter than cotton, making it the lightest natural fibre in the world. The high air content in the kapok fibre is what makes it incredibly temperature-regulating and breathable.
When you sleep with a kapok quilt, you will experience that the quilt adapts to your body temperature. A kapok duvet is therefore one of the best things to sleep with if you have problems with sweating or simply find a normal down duvet too warm and insulating. A kapok quilt is also distinguished by being water-resistant. Kapok contains a natural layer of wax around each silky fibre. This means that the kapok duvet will not absorb the moisture and sweat that the body emits during the night. Instead, the moisture is transported away from the body through the fibre's many airy cavities. You will therefore find that a kapok duvet remains pleasantly dry throughout the night.
